Gurugram Police achieved a major success on the intervening night of February 26 and 27, 2026, by arresting a wanted criminal following a brief encounter. The accused, identified as Ankit Kumar alias Gudda, was carrying a reward of ₹25,000 on his head and had been on the run since escaping from Kannauj Jail in January. The confrontation took place near Pachgaon Chowk when the Crime Branch Manesar team intercepted him.
How did the police track down the accused?
Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar received reliable information that the fugitive was traveling on a motorcycle towards Khoh Kasan with illegal weapons. Acting swiftly on this tip-off, the police team set up a barricade near Golu Hotel on the Pachgaon-Khoh road. When the officers signaled the suspect to stop, he abandoned his bike and tried to flee on foot while opening fire at the police party.

The situation escalated quickly as Ankit fired three rounds at the police team. One of the bullets struck a policeman’s bulletproof jacket, preventing a fatal injury. In self-defense, the police fired two rounds, one of which hit the accused in the leg. The injured criminal was immediately taken into custody and admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
