Commuters in Gurugram traveling toward Farrukhnagar or Jhajjar will face significant traffic diversions for five days due to essential construction work at the railway crossing on Sultanpur Road. The Gurugram Traffic Police announced that the restriction started on February 16, 2026, and will remain in effect until approximately February 21. This closure is necessary to allow Northern Railways to carry out repair and maintenance work at the Farrukhnagar Railway Phatak where heavy machinery is currently deployed.
Official Traffic Advisory and Alternate Routes
The Gurugram Traffic Police, through spokesperson ASI Vikas Verma, has suggested several alternate routes to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles during this period. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance to avoid congestion at the diversion points. The following routes are recommended for travelers:
- Gurugram to Farrukhnagar/Jhajjar: Vehicles should travel via Ramgopal College (Sultanpur), pass through Mubarakpur village, and then join the Jhajjar Bypass.
- Jhajjar to Gurugram: Commuters coming from Jhajjar should use the Jhajjar Bypass, proceed through Mubarakpur, and enter Gurugram via the Sultanpur route.
- KMP Flyover Users: Drivers arriving from the Pataudi-Jhajjar side should avoid going under the KMP flyover and instead use the Pataudi-Pachgaon route to reach Gurugram.
- Badli Route: Commuters from Farrukhnagar can also opt for the Badli (Delhi) route as an alternative to reach Gurugram.
Reason for Closure and Public Instructions
The primary reason for the total restriction on vehicular movement is the ongoing construction work by the Northern Railways. Due to the presence of large construction materials and heavy machines, the road near the crossing is unsafe for public vehicles. Traffic police personnel have been stationed at key points like Ramgopal College and the KMP junction to guide drivers and manage the flow of traffic. Recent reports indicate that the Mubarakpur-Sultanpur link road is seeing higher traffic volume, leading to slower movement during peak hours. Officials have appealed to the public to leave for their destinations earlier than scheduled to account for the extra travel time on these diversion routes.
