What is the New Supercomputer Agreement?

During the meeting, a major agreement was finalized to boost India’s computing infrastructure. A Term Sheet was signed between India’s C-DAC and the UAE’s G42 and Mohamed bin Zayed University of AI (MBZUAI). Under this agreement, the organizations will work together to deploy a powerful supercomputer cluster in India. This new infrastructure will be integrated into the IndiaAI Mission. It is designed to be used by both the public sector and private companies, helping researchers and startups access high-speed computing power.

Apart from technology, the leaders also discussed economic progress. They marked the fourth anniversary of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). In a move to boost financial ties, they welcomed the opening of the Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company office in GIFT City, Gujarat. The Health Ministries of both countries also finalized an MoU to cooperate on digital health and pharmaceutical research, which will benefit patients in both nations.

Can Common People Visit the Summit?

The India AI Impact Summit offers opportunities for the general public to see the latest technology. The government has kept registration for the AI Impact Expo completely free. While the main summit sessions are reserved for delegates and officials, the Expo at Bharat Mandapam is open to visitors. The event features over 300 pavilions and 600 startups showcasing real-world applications of AI in healthcare, agriculture, and education.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that AI should be used for the welfare of everyone. He highlighted the theme “Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay,” which means welfare and happiness for all. The Prime Minister stated that technology must be human-centric rather than machine-centric. The summit also saw a unique achievement, with India setting a Guinness World Record for the most AI responsibility pledges taken within 24 hours.
