The Delhi Police has arrested a 22-year-old man for the alleged murder of his five-year-old cousin in the Mohan Garden area of Outer Delhi. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, reportedly committed the crime to settle a personal score with the child’s mother following a family dispute. The body of the minor was recovered from an under-construction building near his home two days after he went missing.

How Police Solved the Case

The child was reported missing on March 3, 2026. During the investigation, police teams analyzed CCTV footage which showed the victim walking with Ravi Kumar at around 3:24 PM on the day of the disappearance. Based on this evidence and subsequent interrogation, the police arrested Ravi on Saturday. DCP (Outer) Vikram Singh stated that the accused confessed to strangling the child and using a kitchen knife to ensure he was dead. The body was eventually found on March 5, roughly 50 yards from the family’s residence.

Motive and Family Dispute

The investigation revealed that the accused held a grudge against the victim’s mother, who is his maternal aunt. He claimed she frequently fought with her husband and had recently left for Bihar, and he wanted to “teach her a lesson” by harming her son. Initially, the victim’s father suspected his wife due to her sudden departure, but the police cleared her of any involvement after technical evidence pointed to Ravi. The accused reportedly pretended to search for the boy and even “discovered” the body himself to avoid suspicion.
