How the Gang Trapped Victims via Dating Apps
According to the police reports, the gang operated by creating profiles on popular dating apps like Tinder to connect with young men. Victims like Aman Mishra and Vishal Singh were invited to the Mexico Bar by a woman associated with the gang. Once the victims arrived, they were presented with inflated bills, with one instance involving a bill of Rs 55,000.
When the victims questioned the amount or refused to pay, they were reportedly held hostage inside the bar. The accused, including bouncers, would beat the victims and force them to call their friends or family for money. In one case, a friend was asked to bring Rs 30,000 to secure the release of a hostage victim.
Police Station Drama and FIR Details
The situation took a serious turn when the victims approached the Anand Vihar police station. Reports state that the bar operator, Shivam, arrived at the station with a group of 14-15 people, including alleged lawyers, and assaulted the victims again in front of the police staff. Initial complaints were allegedly ignored until a senior Delhi politician intervened in the matter.
The police have now registered a case against bar operator Shivam, his associate Akash Kasana, a woman named Prachi, and others. They face serious charges including extortion, kidnapping, and assault. The authorities have also closed the bar following these verified complaints of organized criminal activity.
