Residents in Noida Sector-121 and Greater Noida are facing a surge in cyber fraud related to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) bills. Scammers are impersonating Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) employees and threatening immediate disconnection to pressure victims. These fraudsters use malicious links sent via WhatsApp or SMS to gain access to mobile phones and bank accounts.

Recent Incidents of Financial Loss in Noida
Several residents have reported significant financial losses due to these scams in early 2026. A 61-year-old woman in Greater Noida West was defrauded of over ₹21 lakh after receiving a fake disconnection threat. In another case, two residents lost a combined ₹4.46 lakh on March 25, 2026, through a WhatsApp link scam. These criminals often use small amounts, such as a ₹12 pending bill, to trick people into clicking dangerous links that compromise their devices.
