Operating Control Room from 10th Floor
The accused had turned Flat No. 1003 in Tower F into a sophisticated control room. According to officials, the gang used Zoom video and audio calls to coordinate bets remotely. They accepted wagers on a ball-by-ball basis, including runs, wickets, fours, and sixes. The police found that the rates were set at 50 paise for an India win and ₹2.00 for an England win during the match. The setup included specialized “line boxes” to manage multiple phone connections simultaneously.
Recovery of 32 Phones and Dubai Link
During the raid, officers recovered 32 mobile phones, three laptops, three tablets, and other electronic equipment. The investigation revealed that the money trail extends beyond India. Profits from the betting racket were reportedly funneled through hawala networks to handlers in Dubai. Police are now analyzing the digital evidence to trace these international links and identify other bookies involved in the network.
Legal Action Against the Accused
Police have registered an FIR against the five arrested men—Vinay Sehgal, Dev Kumar, Navdeep Singh, Rajiv Sharma, and Salil Seth. They have been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating and criminal conspiracy, along with sections of the IT Act and the Public Gambling Act. Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects to gather more information before the T20 World Cup Final scheduled for Sunday.
