The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is set to move to its new permanent address, Seva Teerth, on Friday, February 13, 2026. This marks a significant shift from the British-era South Block where the office has functioned since 1947. Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed the relocation details, stating that the history of independent India takes a new turn as the PMO moves to the Central Vista complex.
Schedule for the relocation day
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a specific schedule for the shifting process on Friday. He will formally announce the naming of the new complex as “Seva Teerth” at 1:30 PM. Before moving to the new location, the PM will chair the final Union Cabinet meeting at the historic South Block at 4:00 PM. This meeting marks the end of a 99-year era of governance from the colonial-era Secretariat.
The formal inauguration of Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhawan-1 and 2 is scheduled for 6:00 PM. After the inauguration, the Prime Minister will deliver a public address to mark the commencement of operations from the new facility.
Details of the new complex
The new office is located on Dara Shikoh Road and was previously known as the Executive Enclave during the construction phase. The complex is divided into specific blocks for different high-level offices. Seva Teerth-1 will house the PMO, while Seva Teerth-2 is designated for the Cabinet Secretariat. The National Security Council Secretariat and the NSA office will operate from Seva Teerth-3.
Alongside the PMO, major ministries such as Finance, Defence, and Home Affairs are moving to the new Common Central Secretariat buildings known as Kartavya Bhawan. These buildings are built to 4-Star GRIHA standards and feature renewable energy systems and smart access controls.
