Details of the Incident at Shahdara Station
The victim has been identified as Rohit Kumar, a resident of Wazidpur in the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. He was employed as a security guard at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital. According to official reports, the incident happened between 4:53 PM and 4:55 PM on March 6. Rohit was waiting at the platform to catch a train back to his home when a snatcher targeted him.
As soon as his phone was snatched, Rohit instinctively ran after the thief to recover his property. In the heat of the moment, the chase led him onto the railway tracks. Tragically, he failed to notice the approaching train number 15035, the Uttaranchal Sampark Kranti Express, which runs from Old Delhi to Kathgodam. The express train hit him, causing fatal injuries.
Police Investigation and Official Action
The Delhi Police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) responded quickly after receiving a PCR call about the accident. A team rushed to the spot and the victim was transported to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The body has been sent for medico-legal procedures. Senior officers confirmed that a case of snatching has been officially registered.
