The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken a major step to boost connectivity in South Delhi. On February 11, 2026, officials invited bids for the construction of a new 3.9-kilometer elevated corridor. This new section will be part of the Golden Line and is designed to connect Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. This move will link the Violet Line and Magenta Line, making travel much easier for daily commuters in the region.
Which stations are included in this new route?
This new elevated section will cover key areas in South and South-East Delhi. According to the plan, four specific stations will be built on this route to help reduce traffic on the roads.
- Tughlakabad: This station will work as an interchange point with the existing Violet Line.
- Sarita Vihar Depot: A new stop to serve the local depot area.
- Madanpur Khadar: This station will provide metro access to the residents of this densely populated area.
- Kalindi Kunj: This will be the connecting point to the Magenta Line.
Once this route is ready, passengers can easily switch between the Violet and Magenta lines without taking long detours.
What is the cost and completion timeline?
The estimated cost for building this 3.9 km stretch from Sarita Vihar Depot to Kalindi Kunj is approximately ₹1024.8 crore. The DMRC has opened the bidding process for civil construction, and the last date to submit these bids is March 11, 2026.
While the main Phase 4 project is targeting a 2026 completion, this specific extension is expected to be ready for the public around 2027 or 2028. This project is part of the efforts to ease mobility and support the development of urban infrastructure in the capital.
