Residents living in East Delhi are set to witness major infrastructure improvements soon. The Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board has officially approved development projects worth ₹728 crore. This decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday. This new budget allocation is nearly three times the previous annual amount of ₹250 crore, showing a strong focus on the region that houses one-third of Delhi’s population.

Which areas will get new roads?

The board has prioritized the construction and renovation of roads that have been in bad condition for a long time. The government plans to fix both main roads and internal lanes inside the colonies. Specific instructions have been given to start immediate repairs in areas like Geeta Colony, Trilokpuri, and Rohtas Nagar. These areas are currently facing issues with dust pollution and potholes, and the new funds aim to make commuting smoother for the common man.

Plans for Welcome Lake and Monsoon

Apart from roads, the board also approved a complete makeover for Welcome Lake. Physical work on this rejuvenation project is expected to begin within one month. The Chief Minister has also directed officials to clean major drains and fix waterlogging spots before the monsoon arrives.

  • Budget: ₹728 crore approved for development.
  • Chairman: Arvinder Singh Lovely is leading the board.
  • Lake Project: Welcome Lake work starts in a month.
  • Target: Solving waterlogging before the rainy season.
