Sequence of the Seemapuri incident
The Seemapuri police station received a PCR call at 5:33 pm about a teenage girl lying unconscious in Ravidas Mandir Wali Gali. She had sustained several stab wounds and was immediately moved to the hospital by locals. Within a short time, another report came in about a gas cylinder explosion at a house in New Seemapuri. Upon arrival, the police discovered Jatin’s body at the scene. Investigations confirmed that Jatin had gone home and ignited the cylinder after attacking the girl.
What led to this tragedy?
The Delhi Police suspect that a rejected marriage or relationship proposal triggered the attack. Preliminary findings suggest Jatin was upset after the girl allegedly turned down his proposal. DCP Shahdara Rajendra Prasad Meena confirmed that forensic teams are looking into the evidence found at the site of the blast. A lighter was recovered from the house, supporting the theory that the fire was started intentionally. The victim is still undergoing treatment and remains unfit to provide a detailed statement to the investigators.
